Non-Profit Organizations
On Tuesday, November 4, Steve Budnack spoke in Lights Academy. Mr. Budnack is from the Parker Task Force for Colorado Gives. He spoke to us about challenges within nonprofit and how to successfully run a business. Although Parker Task Force is a nonprofit organization, when Mr. Budnack took over, he envisioned more of a business model for the organization. It is run completely by volunteers and almost 96% of the proceeds go directly to the organization.
When Mr. Budnack originally started volunteering at Parker Task Force, he started out as a volunteer that just sorted foods and did simple tasks. He really enjoyed working at Parker Task Force and wanted to make it more organized and improve it as much as he could.
Now he runs the organization. He sits down with families who are looking for help financially and helps make a plan with them. He says it takes a lot of patience, compassion, and generosity to run an organization like this.
From this speaker I learned that with determination great things can be done. I learned that with organization and patience you can help so many other people.
