Personalities
Speaking today was Mr. Ness, principal of Lutheran High School. He talked a lot about personalities and love languages, which I personally loved. As we know, there are five main love languages. Giving of gifts, words of affirmation, acts of service, physical touch, and quality time. Everybody has a different way of showing affection, and responds differently to different love languages. There are also many types of personalities, and it can be true that opposites attract. There is the popular sanguine, the perfect melancholy, the powerful choleric, and the peaceful phlegmatic. The popular sanguine is described as an extrovert, a doer, and an optimist. The perfect melancholy is described as an introvert, a thinker, and a pessimist. The powerful choleric is described as an extrovert, a watcher, and a pessemist. The peaceful phlegmatic is described as an introvert, a watcher, and a pessimist. Sometimes when two people with the same or similar personalities can clash. Two powerful choleric personalities, can often try and control things, and that can lead to conflicts when they both believe there is one right way to do something, but they don't agree on what that way is. All of this talk about personalities and love languages led to the big question: How can we apply this to Lights Academy? We can learn more about each other and about not only our personalities, but also about how we can show our love and appreciation in a way that each of our peers will feel blessed and appreciated. We can use these personalities to understand how we will work with each other and how to aviod conflict between our personalities. We can also use our own personalities to understand our strength and weaknesses.
Bible Verse Used: "For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly whan he ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though may, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness." Romans 12:3-8
